The machine works in two stages that transform rough lumber into finished stock ready for final machining:
Stage 1 - Planing:
The first section flattens rough wood surfaces, creating a perfectly flat reference surface. You place the board on the infeed table with the cupped or twisted face down. As you feed the board across the cutterhead, it removes high spots, creating one flat face. This flat face becomes the reference surface for all subsequent machining.
Stage 2: Thicknessing
The upper tables are pivoted out of the way, and the board is fed through the lower bed. Power rollers pull the wood under the cutterhead.
Goal: To trim the top face parallel to the bottom reference face, resulting in a board with a consistent, uniform thickness throughout its entire length.
